Dr Michael Hippler from the University of Sheffield is seeking industry partners to provide funding to support the further development of explosives vapour detection technology and its applications.


• A novel experimental apparatus to detect explosives vapours at low-ppb, with potential to sub-ppb, levels within seconds by Mid-IR optical absorption.


• Potential markets include security and military for airport security, clearing of minefields and anti-terrorist operations.


• Offers improvement sensitivity and selectivity and has flexibility to extend detection to new explosives.


Industry partners are sought to provide funding to support the further development of the technology and its applications.
