RISC has a Policy Committee which makes recommendations on industrial policy relating to UK national security and resilience (NS&R). There are seven key issues which should feature in the security industry-related aspects of the Government’s security policy:
- Widen and deepen the scope of industrial engagement on NS&R issues
- Develop a robust policy framework for security standards
- Develop a more coherent approach to procurement in the national security and resilience field
- Create a mechanism through which the Government can consult the security industry in the event of a major emergency
- Develop a strategy to maximise the UK’s share of the global security market, with links to commercial diplomacy
- Align Science and Technology (S&T) priorities for NS&R purposes
- Appoint a Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) in Government with responsibility for industrial issues relating to national security
